Thy Kingdom Come
Thy Kingdom Come
Holy Father of Creation
give unto me the wisdom of the heart,
the humility of the slave.
and the trust of a child.
That I may learn,
that I may serve,
that I may believe
in the Way of your Risen Son,
by the Words of my hallowed Messiah.
So I may forever abandon the ways of the fallen.
For yet do I toil in the worries of life,
counting the coins of my labor
to store up worldly goods against my carnal fears.
Yet is my trust in the Father still not complete.
Let me judge righteous judgment,
or judge not at all lest I be deceived by appearance,
lest I too be judged by my same hard measure.
For though my words belie mercy,
yet does my heart struggle to condemn
Let me give from my need rather than my abundance.
That I may displace hunger with charity,
that I may displace the ways of my greed
with the ways of Your Son,
as my own sin
was displaced with His sacrifice.
For though I know the love of the Lord,
yet do I cling to the greed of men
Holy Father in Heaven,
let the spiritual become temporal,
let the ways of God supplant the ways of men.
That your Kingdom be established within,
to be carried without,
from the hearts of the redeemed
to the realm of the fallen.
