Oracles - Fifth Age

Oracles
Fifth Age

Thy will be known,
thy standards set,
thy laws be carved in stone,
as whence the ancients sought to make
your sacred ways their own.

By holy call
we gather nigh at Sinai’s darkened sky,
that ways of men be humbled low
by oracles on high.

Where first we peer beyond the Self,
but stumble back in sin.
Though tightly gripped,
your sacred law,
to guide us back again.

Endlessly we tread a path of timeless destiny.
Nobly do we rise against our beastly tendency.
Ceaselessly we fall again but always do we see
thy Godly standards leading us…
into eternity.

Thy will be known,
thy laws be writ,
upon my heart of stone,
though always shall I stumble short
of Sinai’s mighty throne.

Thy mountaintop be out of reach
that slowly may I learn
your distant stance above my work,
beyond what I may earn.

But as I glimpse the highest peak
into Your holy place…
a dawning age,
a rising Son,
a gift of saving grace.
